About Draupne

Draupne is a planner for financial freedom, built first for Norway's tax rules. This page says who is responsible and how the content is made.

The ring that drips gold

In Norse myth, Odin's ring Draupnir drips eight new gold rings every ninth night: wealth that grows by itself. Draupne estimates when your own ring could close, the year your savings might be enough to carry you.

Owner and publisher

Draupne is owned and published by Fri Vei AS, a Norwegian company.

How the numbers are made

Draupne's rules engine runs in the browser. It holds Norway's tax rules, each rate stored with its source (the Norwegian Tax Administration, Lovdata, NAV or the Storting's tax resolution) and marked while it is not yet checked. The English calculator uses after-tax income and return assumptions, includes no additional taxes, and holds no country's tax numbers.

English articles do not use the engine yet. They use published figures from named sources and show their arithmetic in the text, so every number can be checked.

How the articles are made

Articles are drafted with the help of AI and checked by the Draupne editorial team before they are published.

Before an article is published, the editorial team checks that every figure has a source, that the arithmetic holds, and that the text describes rather than recommends.

The writers

The writers are pen names of the Draupne editorial team. None of them is a real person.

Limits

Draupne is a planning tool, not investment advice. What the figures leave out is listed under Limitations.
